Day 46: Just Feeling FRIKIN Thankful

December 21st, 2010 § 0 comments § permalink

46 days since I quit my job.
I cannot feel anymore thankful.
I had a very yummy day today.
Yoga. Chai. New Friends. New Opportunities.
Alone Time. Dinner with Dad. Chocolate Cake. A Glass of Wine.

Best lesson of the day is:
You will experience one of those days,
when you realize how amazing and beautiful you are,
through the eyes of another human being.

Then, you realize, you’re not doing so bad at all.

And oh. Happy Birthday Dad.
You know how much I love you.

Day 41: No Such Thing As Coincidence. Be Lucky.

December 16th, 2010 § 0 comments § permalink

I don’t believe in coincidence. Yet, it was such a series of fortunate events to be able to meet the two people I find amazing, such as Alexander Sriewijono and ReneCC. Best yet, I didn’t even have to try anything. Life brought THEM to ME :D

You can call it luck, you can call it coincidence, or even life’s little miracles, or what I like to call “cosmic synchronicity.” I experience them quite often, if I am keeping count. Getting my meals paid by a complete stranger. Going through Jakarta’s rush hour yet keeping punctuality. Getting the best parking spots. People offering help. I really do have to count my blessings.

How do we attract this “luck”? How do we become lucky? Gosh, I wish I can tell you exactly how. Part of it is (i) a feeling of positive high, another is (ii) unquestionable optimism, the rest is probably (iii) indifference and (iv) keep moving. Or in another word, being a five-year-old with unbeatable assurance and courage. And when I tap into that five-year-old-girl inside me, magical things start to happen. Lemme tell you though, it takes practice! I’ve been practicing this for the past couple of years.

I am the happiest jobless person on earth. I was like running around going, “I’m freeeeeee……” though I don’t have massive savings or steady income. But I know this is time for adventure for me. I have no idea what I am going to do exactly, but I am so sure (without a hint of doubt) that I am going to attract some great opportunities. I was THAT sure! At the same time, I am not worried when some opportunities fail. I just move on to the next one. I keep myself busy reading, writing, planning, meeting new people, helping friends doing their thing. I don’t think too much of what’s going to happen.

What if I fail? Well, what if I succeed? Heck, I am here to create my own luck. To align the stars with my energy. To draw the universe closer with my heart.

Pay attention: the luckiest people in the world are the happiest people with no worries. Learn to not pay too much attention to worry and fear. Learn to enjoy life more. To play. To flow with the go. Be lucky. It’s a fun game to play :)

Day 38: Taking Notes

December 13th, 2010 § 0 comments § permalink

#notetoself: Take more notes. Of places you see, of people you encounter, of books you read, of lessons you learn. Then, SHARE.

Be aware of your thoughts and opinions.
Share them with the world. There is no harm in sharing, as long it is not forcing.

Learn from your thoughts and opinions.
Not just about life, but your own patterns of thoughts and behaviors.

Challenge your own thoughts and opinions.
You are never right nor wrong. They are merely thoughts and opinions. Nothing is absolute.

Discuss your thoughts and opinions, with others.
If anything, it’ll add to your thoughts and opinions ;) Hopefully you’ll grow in the process.

No teaching. No preaching. Just sharing.
No right. No wrong. Only information.
No good. No bad. Only growth.
All from taking notes.

Day 36: Life As You Picture It.

December 11th, 2010 § 0 comments § permalink

Can you picture EXACTLY what life’s going to be like in 5 years, on your birthday? That’s the game we play as we sit at Amelia’s dining table sipping coconut rum with orange juice like teenage girls on their summer vacation.

After spending the days over great crepes, mimosas, colorful fruits and gift changing or stealing to be more exact, we had a chance to have a heart-to-heart talk between women or girls. In our early 30s, talking about our careers, relationship and life at this moment, and how we couldn’t picture this life 5 or even 10 years before, can we picture our lives 5 years from now… in DETAILS?

Dreaming is not that easy. That’s what we’ve found, because we have this tendency to be realistic, to want to plan something, to see what’s reasonable. But dreaming… has nothing to do with that. Dreaming is putting your wish list exactly as you want it in a clear picture, complete with experiences and emotions – how the whole picture makes us feel. As if it has already happened.

My 36th Birthday Party is what I have always imagined since the middle of this year. I imagine to have it in Bali, at my dream house, at its backyard, with so many colorful lanterns, great music, food and of course my friends from all over the world. Liz has just finished her Phd, Amelia living in Alor and Mira traveling all the way from South Africa. I remember me waking up that morning next to my beautiful man, who makes me and my little ones breakfast before I head of to the office – the HQ for media mogul empire. Oh, Amelia and Liz decided that my husband is a film-maker, btw. We pictured our lives to the ‘T’, to colors, activities, tastes, feelings, experiences. It was fun.

Can you picture yours?

  • Where do you wake up that morning?
  • Who is there? What are they like?
  • What are you doing that day? What are you wearing? Who are you talking to?
  • What happens on that day? What kinds of conversations are you having?
  • Can you see your house? your office? things that surround you?
  • Can you smell things?
  • How does it feel? Are you smiling, laughing, giggling?

Day 33: I Know EXACTLY Why, How and What I Want To Create!

December 8th, 2010 § 0 comments § permalink

So, after my first 33 days of figuring out what is it that I want to do. I finally figured it out. Here it is..

Why?

Imagine if each citizen realized and lived with their best potential, passion and purpose.
Imagine if each citizen were inspired and empowered by themselves, their lives and one another to create their BEST life!
Imagine if we were all making positive contributions in each of our own community & country.
Imagine if we grew, worked and collaborated so well with one another.
Imagine if everything we did was in pursuit of something greater than ourselves.
Imagine if we all loved the person, the work and the life we live.
Imagine a world where everything we do inspire people to do the things that inspire them so that, together, we change the world.

This is the world I imagine and this is WHY I do what I do.

How?

  1. Being Open
To share everything from ideas, problems, challenges, feelings, information in an honest and positive way. To collaborate openly with one another while always keeping an open mind. To be there for one another as a family. No individuals.
  2. Looking For The Unconventional Perspective
For every ideas, problems and solutions. Just because something is always done a certain way, it’s not always the best thing. Just because something is different, it doesn’t mean it’s bad. Just because no one has done it before, it doesn’t mean it cannot be done. No mediocre.
  3. Keeping It Simple
So that it is easy to be understood, used, shared and duplicated. No confusion.
  4. Remembering The Long Term Growth
So that every product/solution has space to grow with time and is sustainable. To do things not just for the short-term goals/gratifications but for the long-term.  No shortcut.
  5. Using Your Best Judgment
To show personality, quality, critical thinking and tenacity in everything that we do to come up with the best positive experiences/products/solutions. No work done half-a**ed.
  6. Putting Joy, Beauty and Awesomeness in Everything
.. in everything that we do and create. From working with each other, creating a positive environment to creating new products and solutions. Even in tough times. No boredom.

What?

Ah.. that is for me to create and for you to wait and see ;) All I can say is that it’s going to be:
a lot of FUN, freakin’ BEAUTIFUL and super AWESOME!

Want some preview:

    • What would happen if you put all the most FUN, BEAUTIFUL and AWESOME people together who are doing the most amazing works?
    • What would happen when there are more people learning that there are so many fun, beautiful, awesome people doing amazing works here in our own country?
    • What would happen if you can easily learn from these people?
    • What would happen if everyone can easily communicate, connect, collaborate and support one another in creating more amazing works?

With that said, I am now crossing my fingers, hugging the universe, may all roads to lead there opens up wide, easily, effortlessly with such magical timing. Amen.

Where Am I?
