Not just about life, but your own patterns of thoughts and behaviors.Challenge your own thoughts and opinions.
You are never right nor wrong. They are merely thoughts and opinions. Nothing is absolute.Discuss your thoughts and opinions, with others.
If anything, it’ll add to your thoughts and opinionsHopefully you’ll grow in the process.
No teaching. No preaching. Just sharing.
No right. No wrong. Only information.

Day 36: Life As You Picture It.
December 11th, 2010 § 0 comments § permalink
Can you picture EXACTLY what life’s going to be like in 5 years, on your birthday? That’s the game we play as we sit at Amelia’s dining table sipping coconut rum with orange juice like teenage girls on their summer vacation.
After spending the days over great crepes, mimosas, colorful fruits and gift changing or stealing to be more exact, we had a chance to have a heart-to-heart talk between women or girls. In our early 30s, talking about our careers, relationship and life at this moment, and how we couldn’t picture this life 5 or even 10 years before, can we picture our lives 5 years from now… in DETAILS?
Dreaming is not that easy. That’s what we’ve found, because we have this tendency to be realistic, to want to plan something, to see what’s reasonable. But dreaming… has nothing to do with that. Dreaming is putting your wish list exactly as you want it in a clear picture, complete with experiences and emotions – how the whole picture makes us feel. As if it has already happened.
My 36th Birthday Party is what I have always imagined since the middle of this year. I imagine to have it in Bali, at my dream house, at its backyard, with so many colorful lanterns, great music, food and of course my friends from all over the world. Liz has just finished her Phd, Amelia living in Alor and Mira traveling all the way from South Africa. I remember me waking up that morning next to my beautiful man, who makes me and my little ones breakfast before I head of to the office – the HQ for media mogul empire. Oh, Amelia and Liz decided that my husband is a film-maker, btw. We pictured our lives to the ‘T’, to colors, activities, tastes, feelings, experiences. It was fun.
Can you picture yours?
- Where do you wake up that morning?
- Who is there? What are they like?
- What are you doing that day? What are you wearing? Who are you talking to?
- What happens on that day? What kinds of conversations are you having?
- Can you see your house? your office? things that surround you?
- Can you smell things?
- How does it feel? Are you smiling, laughing, giggling?
Day 33: I Know EXACTLY Why, How and What I Want To Create!
December 8th, 2010 § 0 comments § permalink
So, after my first 33 days of figuring out what is it that I want to do. I finally figured it out. Here it is..
Why?
Imagine if each citizen realized and lived with their best potential, passion and purpose.
Imagine if each citizen were inspired and empowered by themselves, their lives and one another to create their BEST life!
Imagine if we were all making positive contributions in each of our own community & country.
Imagine if we grew, worked and collaborated so well with one another.
Imagine if everything we did was in pursuit of something greater than ourselves.
Imagine if we all loved the person, the work and the life we live.
Imagine a world where everything we do inspire people to do the things that inspire them so that, together, we change the world.
This is the world I imagine and this is WHY I do what I do.
How?
- Being Open
To share everything from ideas, problems, challenges, feelings, information in an honest and positive way. To collaborate openly with one another while always keeping an open mind. To be there for one another as a family. No individuals. - Looking For The Unconventional Perspective
For every ideas, problems and solutions. Just because something is always done a certain way, it’s not always the best thing. Just because something is different, it doesn’t mean it’s bad. Just because no one has done it before, it doesn’t mean it cannot be done. No mediocre. - Keeping It Simple
So that it is easy to be understood, used, shared and duplicated. No confusion. - Remembering The Long Term Growth
So that every product/solution has space to grow with time and is sustainable. To do things not just for the short-term goals/gratifications but for the long-term. No shortcut. - Using Your Best Judgment
To show personality, quality, critical thinking and tenacity in everything that we do to come up with the best positive experiences/products/solutions. No work done half-a**ed. - Putting Joy, Beauty and Awesomeness in Everything
.. in everything that we do and create. From working with each other, creating a positive environment to creating new products and solutions. Even in tough times. No boredom.
What?
Ah.. that is for me to create and for you to wait and see
All I can say is that it’s going to be:
a lot of FUN, freakin’ BEAUTIFUL and super AWESOME!
Want some preview:
-
- What would happen if you put all the most FUN, BEAUTIFUL and AWESOME people together who are doing the most amazing works?
- What would happen when there are more people learning that there are so many fun, beautiful, awesome people doing amazing works here in our own country?
- What would happen if you can easily learn from these people?
- What would happen if everyone can easily communicate, connect, collaborate and support one another in creating more amazing works?
With that said, I am now crossing my fingers, hugging the universe, may all roads to lead there opens up wide, easily, effortlessly with such magical timing. Amen.
Day 32: 10 Things I Learn From My Daddy
December 7th, 2010 § 0 comments § permalink
Dad’s been an orphan since he was 4 years old. He and his sister were separated. He got adopted by a indo-dutch family in Jakarta, while his sister by a catholic family in Bogor. He had nothing. He never knew what it’s like to have parents and be shown love and compassion. Although he still doesn’t know how to give a hug when I ask him, or say “I love you” face-to-face, he is the most loving, compassionate, dedicated, reliable and funny man I know with heart bigger than a grizzly bear
And these.. are things he always says:
- Make friends. Keep them close. You never know what can come up from the friendship.
Even when they are your clients, treat them like friends. And if I learn anything from Dad, he knows how to keep his friends and become friends even with the most random stranger/clients. He’s not the happy-go-lucky person. In fact, he looks like he’s from the Army. But everybody who knows him, LOVES him. Wherever we travel, he always knows someone who would bend over backward for dad, not because he is ‘somebody’ but because he’s done something great for them in the past and they respect him. - You will get lost. Make sure you have a full tank before every journey.
Just like he won’t let me drive until I know how to park perfectly, change tires and oil effortlessly. But he’s right. Be prepared. If you want to make mistakes, make the big mistakes, not the little silly thing like “I should’ve filled that tank.” » Read the rest of this entry «
Day 31: Start With Why…
December 6th, 2010 § 0 comments § permalink
It is NOT a coincidence that I stumbled upon Simon Sinek’s website http://startwithwhy.com/, with a message that says:
“All organizations and careers function on 3 levels.
What you do, How you do it and Why you do it.
The problem is, most don’t even know that Why exists.”
Every person and organization on the planet knows what they do. Some know how they do it…
but very few know WHY they do what they do.
Money is not a WHY, it’s a result.
By WHY, we mean why does your organization exist?
Why do you get out of bed every morning?
And why should anyone care?
The leaders who inspire us all think, act and communicate the exact same way and it’s the complete opposite to everyone else. Those who inspire are not driven with what they do, they are driven with WHY they do it.
Unlike the rest of us, those who inspire think, act and communicate from the inside-out of The Golden Circle.
The ability to inspire, starts with WHY.
Once you know Why, How will you bring your Why to life?
Hows are the strategies, guiding principles or actions that inform the path you will take in pursuit of your WHY. They are the road map or the code of conduct to start to move a Why into something useful and tangible. They are, quite literally, the actions you take or the environment in which you work best. If you focus on the big picture, for example, you won’t work well with others who are obsessed with the details.
Knowing How is the key to hiring people who work well in your culture, forming partnerships that will last and finding customers and clients who live or work the way you do.
And What?
Is just what you happened to create because of all of those
