What’s Your Surrounding Trying to Tell You?
“Friends are the mirror reflecting the truth of who we are”
Never in my life before I have been surrounded by such beautiful people. And when I say beautiful I mean sincere, loving, committed, strong, positive, passionate, non-judgmental and definitely sexy! Even when they are upset, they are still smiling. And funny to say that we were attracted and brought to each other just at the beginning of this year. Each great friend I make this year has inspired me to become a better person. If that is not soul mates, I don’t know what is.
I have good friends all my life, but never have I met such a group of loving and inspiring people that can inspire me daily. I wonder why I just met them this year and not 2, 5 or 10 years ago.
Then, I’m reminded of one of the spiritual laws of the universe, that “like attracts like.” I believe I have just started to be true to my dream, commit to my happiness and live life to the fullest at the end of 2008 – so no wonder than I start attracting great individuals into my life too.
It is said that “we attract individuals into our lives that mirror who we are.” As it is eloquently said in the dailyom.com:
Those you feel drawn to reflect your inner self back at you, and you act as a mirror for them. Simply put, when you look at others, you will likely see what exists in you. When you see beauty, divinity, sweetness, or light in the soul of another, you are seeing the goodness that resides in your soul. When you see traits in others that evoke feelings of anger, annoyance, or hatred, you may be seeing reflected back at you those parts of yourself that you have disowned or do not like.
Because we are all mirrors for each other, looking at the people in your life can tell you a lot about yourself. Who you are can be laid bare to you through what you see in others. It is easy to see the traits you do not like in others. It is much more difficult to realize that you possess those same traits. Often, the habits, attitudes, and behaviors of others are closely linked to our unconscious and unresolved issues.
I am blessed to be surrounded by great friends whom I see life, love, committment and strength in them. However, I have also caught myself in moments where I judge those around me to be irresponsible, selfish and sad. That’s when I realize that if I can see it in others, then I too possess the same traits. I guess it’s a good thing I don’t run into these people very often, hahaahah… It is that easy to get to know myself, if I’m just willing to see the reflection on how I see the world.

If it is said that “What we experience on the Outside is a direct Reflection of what we are Inside,” then it makes only sense that “Who we encounter on this world is a direct reflection of who we are inside.”
Today, I’d like to ask you to look at the people in your life, people who surround you and you ran into daily. What do you see in them? Love, compassion, strength or anger, stupidity, annoyance? What are they telling you about you? Is it possible that you too possess those same traits?
During these last days of Ramadhan, take this time to make a journey within. Let the world tell you its secrets.
